Careful photos Tressa and Jeff Darcos are standard bearers, two of the hundreds who gave up time to volunteer at the Island Resort Championship on the Sweetgrass-Epson Tour.
Escanaba – I’ll go here again! For the 13th time, the Delta County Chamber of Commerce is proud to be a presentation sponsor of the Island Resort Championship in Sweetgrass. With that designation, there is an incredible responsibility to recruit and place volunteers in the 300 positions needed to hold successful tournaments.
Currently, I am looking for volunteers for the tournament that will be held from June 20th to June 22nd. The tournament welcomes the island’s resorts and casinos to tour organizers and over 140 international golfers to the award-winning course.
Volunteers will be wearing behind the scenes access to LPGA qualifying tournaments, free rounds at Sweetgrass and Sagerun, free meals during shifts, and a tournament shirt or hat. The volunteer will serve as scorekeeper, cart driver, spotter and former s for the 2025 Island Resort Championship at Sweetgrass.
We are very fortunate to have such a group of dedicated volunteers every year. In fact, more than 100 veteran volunteers quickly committed to another year after sending their first call to past supporters. In the words of Tony Mancilla, general manager of Island Resort & Casino and event co-chair, “a volunteer effort that will help make the tournament experience at Sweetgrass memorable for audiences, players and their families.” We were unable to make much of the Chamber of Commerce efforts to support community events and local businesses. We also recommend that members participate in the extremely popular “Keys to Success” program. Guests will receive the key to unlock their savings when shopping with participating member businesses. To participate in an event-specific program, call the chamber at 906-786-2192.
