“If we can guarantee that Gomez is right, we may not run out of budget there. Van Dick’s durability at his age is equally good, and I think we’ll see the centre half, although it’s a big reason why Liverpool was so good.”
Liverpool’s immediate defensive priority is on the left back, but the appearance of 21-year-old Connor Bradley provided what appears to be an ideal alternative at the right back as Alexander Arnold leaves.
Murphy said: “In an ideal world, you might want to take people to both fullback positions, but if you’re looking at the middle defender and two fullbacks, you’re going to get into the forward position and maybe one midfielder.
“The praised slot suggests that Bradley will be in that right backbirth when Trent leaves.
