If United, who finished 15th in the Premier League last season, doesn’t want Rashford, why is Laliga’s Champions Barcelona chasing him?
Barca won 102 on the way to win the league as they hadn’t competed accurately for goals in the past year.
They also scored 43 as they reached the Champions League semi-finals from 2024-25.
If anything, their flaws were behind rather than in the front.
But it hasn’t stopped for them to reinforce their attacks.
“Strengthening the left side of the forward line has been a Barcelona priority throughout the summer, and for a long time they seem to have managed to snap their number one target, Nico Williams,” Spanish football writer Andy West said.
“However, the athletic Bilbao winger ultimately chose to sign a new contract with his current club, so Barca was forced to look elsewhere.
They would have been prepared to pay both Williams and Diaz, but there is a financial advantage to signing Rashford – the transaction will initially be rented out with the option to buy.
“Barcelona’s long-standing financial issues remained an issue, and they wanted to raise money by selling goalkeeper Mark Andre Ter Stegen, who was replaced by a new signature signed to Joan Garcia,” West added.
“But that plan is blocked by German veterans demanding back surgery, meaning signing Rashford on loan has become even more appealing.”
Stone added: “Balka cannot be lost if it’s a loan with the option to buy as expected.
“Don’t forget, Chelsea effectively lends Jadon Sancho for the season and sent him back to Manchester United despite their obligation to buy after an inconsistent campaign.”
