If Michael Malone regrets his nugget tattoo now that the team suddenly fired him, the guy who inks his coach’s body tells TMZ Sports that he’s down to hide it.
The former Denver headman is famous for etching Maxie’s minor piece onto his shoulder after winning his first NBA title two years ago… But if he wants to erase it now, Mike Diaz with the triple W tattoo says he’ll break the needle again.
The artist who designed Malone’s whimsical championship work in June 2023 told us that he hopes the 53-year-old will maintain it as the 53-year-old is a great memory for him and his city… but he added, “If he really wants to do it, I’ll help.”
So far, there have been no indications of Malone trying to say goodbye to the artwork — Diaz said he hasn’t been contacted by anyone in the coach’s camp yet — but considering how Malone lost his job this week, it seems like a possibility.
As we reported, Nugs fired a side job manager 10 years later at work… less than two weeks after the playoffs began.
Denver had been in a brawl recently, but still had a 47-32 record and had a legal shot to lock three seeds.
If Malone finally decides to throw it away, TAT could still be part of a collection of other Nuggets fans… As Diaz told us, he would recreate the piece for a special $52.80 – the same deal he offered when the Nuggets won it in 2023.
