Michelle Obama is here for the Western Fashion Renaissance.
The former US First Lady tapped this trend as she appeared in South by Southwest (SXSW) today in Austin, Texas.
Obama wore a burnt orange set consisting of a box-shaped trimmed jacket and wide pants. The outerwear was a workwear-inspired design with a sharp collar and a small pocket with triangular lace-up details underneath. The pants were high waisted and had the same brown lace-up design as the jacket, which was in the middle of the waistline and had the pants tight.
Obama paired cowboy-inspired coding with classic staples. A diamond ring that includes black tees, shiny black boot heels, dangly diamond earrings, and a wedding ring from her husband, Barack Obama.
At today’s SXSW, Mrs. Obama joined brother Craig Robinson, executive director of the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The two launch a podcast together entitled “IMO” (in my opinion) and will discuss “everyday questions that shape our lives, our relationships, and the world around us” according to a press release.
Obama’s appearance today has been showing her first general involvement for quite some time. The former first lady was particularly absent from Donald Trump’s inauguration earlier this year and at Jimmy Carter’s state funeral. She would have been sitting next to Trump. Her husband, former President Barack Obama, attended both event solos.
