President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah compared corruption to treason.
The newly sworn president said this in his inauguration speech at the Statehouse in Windhook on Friday.
She used a quote from former Tanzania president Julius Nyere.
“And I agree,” she said in the quote.
The president said corruption could lead to frustration that sets fire on citizens to overthrow the government.
Nandi-Ndaitwah sought mutually beneficial relationships with the country.
“We want a trade agreement that is beneficial to both the region, the continent and the world,” she said.
Nandi-Ndaitwah further set her tenure priorities and named her healthcare and education improvements and increased investment.
