President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah extended his congratulations to newly elected Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Wednesday.
The Canadian federal election took place on April 28th. He replaces Justin Trudeau and is Canada’s 24th Prime Minister.
In her congratulatory message, Nandi Nudaitwa said the outcome reflects the confidence of Canadians in the vision of the liberal party of the future.
“Namibia and Canada share a long-standing relationship based on mutual respect, democratic values and bilateral cooperation. We look forward to working with Prime Minister Carney to further strengthen bilateral relations and working together on global issues.
Climate change, economic development, multilateralism, promoting peace and security, among other things,” she said.
She said Canada will continue to play a pivotal role on the international stage under Prime Minister Carney and the Liberals.
“We look forward to the continued fruitful collaboration between our countries as we continue to cooperate on mutual concerns,” she said.
