President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has condemned the circular claim that Namibia plans to deport 500 American citizens, calling the allegations false and urges the public to be wary of fake social media posts.
A press release issued by the presidency on Wednesday said he was interested in the distribution of social media posts and online articles claiming that Nandi Nudaitwa ordered the deportation of American citizens due to visa reciprocity.
The statement noted that various social media accounts distributed the production, which was attributed to the president.
“These posts feature manufactured quotes and images containing misinformation and misinformation aimed at damaging the image of the President, the Namibian government and creating potential diplomatic embarrassment,” he read.
The presidency noted that no such deportation or statement orders have been issued and that massive deportation of Americans is not ongoing.
All immigration-related crimes in Namibia are dealt with in accordance with the laws of the country, the president added.
“Namibia is committed to maintaining strong diplomatic and bilateral relations with the United States, and all immigration issues will be handled through established legal and diplomatic channels. Namibia continues to support international norms, including visas and immigration policies, based on mutual respect and mutual respect.”
The presidency urged public, media houses and digital content creators to use verified information from public government channels before sharing or reporting.
