President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Saturday reduced Namibian cabinet to 14 ministries.
President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Saturday reduced Namibian cabinet from 21 to 14 provinces.
The President said this was in accordance with Article 32(3)(g) of the Namibian Constitution, which was led by the implementation plan of Swapo’s election manifesto.
“I have decided to establish, abolish, and work together in a number of different government agencies, ministries and agencies.
“…Reduce spending and ensure smooth and effective implementation of development programs.
“I can also integrate some ministries, move some delegations to ministries, and maximize the results there,” she said.
Nandi-Ndaitwah said he showed confidence in the promises that citizens made to vote for the party and made in their election manifesto, that it was based on diversity, natural resources benefits and youth empowerment for sustainable development.
To realize these goals, she said the party has developed an implementation plan that will serve as a blueprint for the new government.
This implementation plan is a catalyst for economic growth and job creation through economic diversification, while prioritizing human capital investment through education and youth empowerment.
This means that the social grants relied on under the Ministry of Gender Equality, Eradication of Poverty and Social Welfare fall under the Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises to improve the effective delivery of social subsidies.
The Ministry of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation has been integrated into the Ministry of Education, Arts, Sports and Culture to enhance effective coordination and improvement of the education system, the president said.
