Returned the astronaut who had undergone medical checks after seeing it appearing from the capsule.
NASA astronauts Barry “Butch” Willmore and Snee Williams are returning to Earth in an unexpected nine-month space environment after what appears to be a roughly 10-day space mission has been transformed into a highly politicized saga in almost a year.
The astronauts returned to Earth with NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Loscosmos astronaut Alexander Golbunov, and took a 17-hour journey in space capsules that had splattered from the Florida coast about an hour ago.
All four astronauts were photographed grinning as they emerged from the recovered space capsule.
You can read the full description of my colleague Richard Lascomb’s return of astronauts. It also incorporated some of the broader political context of NASA’s difficult position in the Trump administration.
More updates can be made at the planned press conference in about 20 minutes.

Gravity may seem like drag, but as my colleague Helen Sullivan reports, spending time without ground force can wreak havoc on your body.
In particular, we’ll go into some details about some of the physical symptoms that land astronauts may be dealing with over the nine months that Barry “Butch” Willmore and Sniwilliams spent in space, just as they do.

NASA Cuts Increase the fear of passing more influence on SpaceX owners Musk
The Trump administration’s decision to close two offices at NASA “dramatically” increased the costs of space exploration and gave Elon Musk more influence on the agency, but the fired workers warned.
NASA’s office of Technology, Policy, Strategy and Chief Scientists provides independent analysis of key investments and strategies. Both are set to close amid widespread reductions in agencies.
Workers in the two offices have told us that these cuts undermine the ongoing goals of manned missions to the Moon and Mars. He then questioned Musk’s conflict of interest, who remains CEO of SpaceX, Rocket and Satellite giants, leading the so-called “government efficiency” and led Doge.
“They want to go to Mars. They don’t need detractors,” said a senior NASA official. “The most independent and unbiased views on this come from these offices.

Butch Wilmore is the ultimate astronaut who emerges from the Dragon Capsule.
Butch Wilmore, the fourth and last astronaut on the board, is also out of the dragon’s spaceship. Now, all astronauts have undergone several medical checks before continuing their final foot in their journey.
NASA’s live coverage will close soon, explains the live commenter.

Suni Williams smiles when he comes out of the capsule
Suni Williams is out of the spaceship that brought her back to Earth. Like her fellow astronauts, Williams is all smiles after a 17-hour journey from the International Space Station. There are still several stages of her journey, including taking a helicopter to the airport, followed by a flight to Houston where astronauts return to the Johnson Space Center.

The NASA astronauts returned on Earth after being stuck on the ISS for several months: “Smile, ears to ears.”
Richard Lascom
Since June 2024, two NASA astronauts have been mounted on the International Space Station (ISS) and have returned to Earth more than nine months after Boeing’s pioneering Starliner capsule thwarted the initially scheduled one-week mission.
The SpaceX Dragon Capsule, which includes four astronauts, including Starliner test pilots Sunita Williams and Barry “Butch” Wilmore, was splattered 17 hours later at 5:57pm (9:57pm) in the Gulf of Mexico off Tallahassee.

286 days later in space, Barry “Butch” Willmore and Snie Williams are expected to eventually emerge from the Dragon spaceship soon. They are the last two onboards.

Waiting for the appearance of Barry “Butch” Willmore and Snie Williams, there are two American astronauts who have been stuck on the International Space Station much longer than expected.
Yes, it’s a fascinating human story. But we are also seeing a day of highly choreographed political message for SpaceX and its CEO Elon Musk’s Trump administration, as well as NASA itself.
