For anyone looking to know the identity of the 16 Stanley Cup playoff team, this was a very productive weekend. When the game began on Monday, 14 of the 16 clubs punched tickets, but a variety of species are competing.
With the end of the regular season approaching on Thursday, it is at risk for six games to take place on Monday:

Chicago Blackhawks of the Montreal Canadiens
7pm (ESPN+)
The Columbus Blue Jackets’ Sunday victory kept them in the playoff race for at least a day. This one Canadian victory clinches the Bers (and eliminates the blue jacket). On the other side, the Blackhawks are locked up in second place on lottery orders.
Dallas stars in the Detroit Red Wings
7pm (NHL Network)
The stars will no longer be able to catch jets or get caught in an avalanche, so they will begin a first-round playoff series against their home AVS. The Red Wings enter the evening 11th with draft lottery orders, and are linked with the Rangers by a point, duck (and penguins, but they have one game left) and the islanders one point ahead.
Florida Panthers’ New York Rangers
7pm (ESPN+)
As mentioned above, the Rangers are perfect for mixing top 10 draft picks, but if they win, they can finish in as low as 13 days. On the other side, the Panthers won’t be able to catch a maple leaf first in the Atlantic division, but they could move to second place before the lightning in the final week. They’re four points ahead of the Senators, but Ottawa can’t catch them as they hold the advantage of three regulatory victory in just two games left for both clubs.
Nashville Predators Utah Hockey Club
8pm (ESPN+)
These two teams enter the evening on the 14th and 3rd respectively with draft lottery orders. Nashville is trapped in third place, but the Hockey Club (87 points) can potentially move the spot to No. 13 (now Blue Jacket, 85 points) or No. 15 (now Canucks, 88 points).
Los Angeles Kings of the Edmonton Oilers
10pm (ESPN+, NHL Network)
This is the Pacific division’s No. 2 and No. 3 series, but it’s still not clear which teams have the home ice advantage. The Kings entered the evening at the second spot, with 101 points and 41 restrictions won (and games in hand). This is essentially a must-see for them (and regulations too), as the Oilers have 99 points and 35 RW.
San Jose Sharks in Vancouver Canucks
10pm (ESPN+)
In the nightcap, the team is tied to two lottery tickets, albeit at both ends of the table. The Sharks won first place in the lottery, but the Canucks placed 15th in this matchup. The Canucks could switch spots with Hockey Club and No. 14, and could also flip over with Calgary’s flames on No. 16.
Note: The potential for the playoffs is via Sta Threat.

Choose the winner and win the Stanley Cup champion! Create a bracket
The NHL uses draft lottery to determine the order of the first round, so teams finishing at the last place are not guaranteed to choose No. 1. As of 2021, teams can raise up to 10 spots if they win the lottery, so only 11 teams are eligible for the first place pick. Learn more about this process here. Matthew Schaefer, the defender of OHL’s Erie Otters, is number one on the draft board.
