His resignation comes four months after Mohamed Diggol, former chairman of Project Surveillance and Evaluation, who resigned last January.
Kano Governor Aba Yusuf has accepted the resignation of Muhammad Idris, a committee member of internal security and special service from the Cabinet.
The governor appointed Idris, a major general of the Nigerian Army who retired to the ministry’s pioneer committee in August.
The governor’s spokesman Sunusi Bature announced the development in a statement late Tuesday.
He said Governor Yusuf expressed his gratitude for Idris’ service.
“Major General Mohammed Idwa Idris (RTD) thanked him for his unwavering commitment and contribution to the development of Kano State from his days of military career and wishes him a peaceful and fulfilling retirement as he transitions from public service,” the governor said.
“Despite his short tenure, it is believed that Mr Idris has laid a strong foundation for the ministry. Governor Yusuf has expressed his confidence that his successor will build on these efforts to establish a clear operating framework for his ministry,” the statement said.
His resignation comes just four months after Mohamed Diggol, former commissioner of project monitoring and assessments in the state, resigned in January last year.
There was no reason for the resignation of the two committee members, but Diggol was seen alongside Senate Speaker Balau Ziblin shortly after his resignation and raised speculation that he would join the Progressive Congress (APC) of all opposition parties in the state.
