The mantra of many “Africa-Dubai-Taiwan” campaigns by Governor Anambra Prof. Chukma Soldo is said to be one of the biggest election campaign frauds in Nigeria’s political history.
Sold first fought the governor under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2010, and later won the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in 2021, pledging to turn Anambra into “Dubai Thai One Silicon Valley in Africa.” But as the gubernatorial election approaches, critics have argued that their promises are barely met.
Chief Hon. Chukwuebuka Obidike, Chief of All Progressives Congress (APC), has strongly criticized the governor for misleading voters with his famous qualifications and lofty campaign rhetoric.
“Governor Soludo deserves the award for running Nigeria’s biggest deceive-ceptive campaign mantra,” says Obidike. “He used his international reputation to make people believe that Anambra will turn an economic power, but the outcome is disappointing.”
Obidike argued that under Soludo’s leadership, Anambra witnessed a decline in security and a lack of significant foreign direct investment (FDI), despite the governor’s global experience and connections.
“Enugu and Abia states have only been in office for two years, attracting more FDI than Anambra. Having worked with 18 international organizations, including the World Bank and the IMF, Soludo has not been able to utilize those networks for the benefit of the state,” he said.
The APC chief also criticised Soldo’s tax policy and argued that residents are being held responsible and harassed by income agents rather than benefiting from the modern technology-driven tax system promised during the campaign.

“Instead of digital tax solutions like Dubai and Taiwan, Soludo uses advertising and street collectors to threaten residents to pay taxes,” says Obidike.
When asked about the ongoing project, Obidike dismissed them as overwhelming. “It’s embarrassing for someone from a Soludo background to showcase some road projects, new parks and fun city parks as a major achievement. These are projects that the local government chair can offer.”
He continued to list several unmet campaign promises, including the urban mass transit system, international hospitals, independent power plants, EMEAGWALI ICT village, industrial layout for small businesses, water and sewage infrastructure, the new capital, and railways linking Onisha, Nnewi, Awka, and Ekwulobia.
In conclusion, Obisique urged Anambra citizens to “keep an eye on” ahead of the upcoming elections, and approved APC candidate Nicholas Ukkachuku as a better option.
“Prince Ukachukwu is a successful businessman with a statewide and actual development plan. The APC is ready to fully capture the vision and South of President Bora Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, and fully line up the South,” he declared.
