Abuja – Nigerian priest John Ubachu, lured on Sunday, March 23rd, has been released (see Fides, 24/3/2025). This was announced yesterday, March 26th by the Archdiocese of Owerri. It was released in a statement signed by Father Patrick C. Mubara, the Archdiocese’s Prime Minister and Secretary. “We are instructed to inform you that Father John Ubachu, the priest who was lured on Sunday, March 23, 2025, has been released.
“We thank God for answering His infinite mercy and our prayers. We thank your brother for the solidarity and prayers. Give him glory,” the statement concludes.
Father John Ubachu, a parish priest of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Izombe, was lured on the evening of Sunday, March 23rd, on the Ejemekhuru Road in the Oguta Regional Government Area of Imo State, southern Nigeria, on his way to the annual retreat of the priest.
