… Calling Nosdra for emergency intervention
Port Harcourt – Fresh oil spills have been reported in Ikata Community in the Eastern Ahoada Municipal Area, accompanied by massive destruction of crops in the surrounding environment.
The spill occurred early yesterday on a 14-inch pipeline road run by Renaissance Africa Energy Company Ltd.
RAEC is a company that is allegedly acquired assets of Nigeria Limited Shell Oil Developer SPDC through a $2.4 billion sale agreement.
The oil spill was confirmed by Yeac-Nigeria’s Youth and Environmental Advocacy Center in a statement obtained by Vanguard by Executive Director Dr. Finneface.
Fyneface said that under the auspices of human rights advocates and promoters of Niger Delta’s Advocacy Center’s 1 Million Youth Volunteer Network, and its oil spill warning system, Cosas reported the region’s spill.
He said, “The spill points suspected of being third-party interference are seriously spilling crude oil into the environment and destroying the ecosystems of the surrounding area.”
The group is said to have visited the spill site by volunteers in the area, causing vandals to excavate the ground and destroy a 14-inch pipe along the right of the Okordia-rumuekpe pipeline.
Fyneface has called on Nowsdra’s National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency to carry out a joint investigation visit (JIV) to the spill site to determine the actual cause of the spill and call the relevant department of the 2021 Related Section (PIA) to consider and challenge suspects.
Several calls were not answered to police spokesman Grace Ilinge Coco, the State Police Command police spokesman, to confirm the incident.
