“I’m a member of the APC and I like being addressed that way. I’m always trying to popularize the parties.”
Former President Muhammadu Buhari reaffirmed his membership in All Progressives Congress (APC) saying he wanted to be addressed as a loyal member of the party.
Buhari said this on Thursday in a statement on X by his media aide Galba Shev.
The statement follows the recent asylum of the former Kaduna governor from the APC to the Social Democrats (SDP).
El Rufai, a founding member of the APC, said he had consulted the former president about his plans to leave the ruling party.
“I consulted Buhari on Friday. I told him why I was leaving APC and the reactions of other people I consulted.
El Rufai’s statement has fueled several quarterly speculation that prominent members of the APC are planning to abandon the party.
In a statement, Buhari said he would not turn his back on the party, which has provided two presidential tickets.
He was president between 2015 and 2023.
He said he would stay in APC and remain in APC to become popular.
“I’m a member of the APC and I like being addressed that way. I’m always trying to popularize the parties,” he said.

He says there is no doubt that he will never look back to the party to give him two terms and do everything he can to popularize it.
“I’m a member of the APC and I like being addressed that way. I’m always trying to popularize the parties.”
He continues, and now he is only grateful for the support the party has given him during his tenure as president, and he considers it the highest honor and never seeks anything more.
He further stated that the pain and democracy as a system of government that his father, founded to establish a powerful party to protect our constitution, is a worthy sacrifice that should be cherished and nurtured.
