Police said they are determined to remove illegal firearms and criminal conditions.
Police Command at Akwa Ibom State says that during a stop operation in the state, the operatives recovered locally manufactured firearms and two live cartridges from the vehicle.
Command spokesman Tim Von John revealed this in a statement at UYO on Thursday.
Deputy Police Commissioner John said the incident occurred at the Ikot Ekpene Control Post when officers stopped the Mercedes-Benz C300 with a customized plate number Forbes Jr carrying three male residents.
According to her, the three men came from the villages of Ikaku and Ndiya in the Ikono Local Government Area of Akwaibom.
“The stop strategy is aimed at curbing crime and enhancing public safety,” John said, adding that police are determined to remove illegal firearms and criminals from Akwa Ibom.
A police spokesman said the police chief of Akwa Ibom, Baba Azare, had ordered an investigation into the matter.
She reassured the public about Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of life and property throughout the state.
