Some students revealed that four students mysteriously died last week
A strange illness has killed four students from Arielo at Kevi State University of Science and Technology.
University registrar Maimar Tiri confirmed the development with a reporter at Birnin Kebbie on Monday.
“Yes, four students have died according to our records, but we still don’t know the cause,” Tiri said.
“The Ministry of Health warned us and advised that they should be fired from student accommodation.”
Tiri added that he has formally written to Isa Tunga, a board of higher education member, and is seeking guidance on measures to curb deaths.
Among the students who spoke anonymously, four students revealed that they had mysteriously passed away last week.
The cause of their deaths remains unknown, but sources said World Health Organization officials visited the university for a recognition campaign on the risk of meningitis.
The Premium Times understands that the Student Union Government (SUG) has written to the university management to close the institution to prevent further casualties.
