Abuja – Nigeria held separate consultations with Swedish and Norwegian officials over the weekend.
The 2025 United Nations Conference was held in New York, United States, in various areas of cooperation between the United States and West African countries.
Dr. Doris Uzoka Anait, who represented Nigeria at the UN Conference, met with Swedish Secretary of State for International Development Cooperation, Diane Janse.
The conference focused on strengthening Nigerian partnerships with Sweden in key areas such as technology innovation, digital ecosystems and green economy partnerships, exploring collaboration opportunities to promote Nigeria’s sustainable development and economic growth, and emphasizing international partnerships to achieve Nigeria’s development goals.
The Federal Treasury was revealed in a statement that bilateral involvement was part of Uzoka Anite’s involvement at the 2025 UN conference and will showcase Nigeria’s aggressive approach to global development partnerships.
According to the statement, the federal government looks forward to working closely with Sweden and other development allies to implement impactful projects that will change the lives of millions of Nigerians in line with the current administration’s agenda of new hopes.
Uzoka Anite also met with Norwegian Deputy Minister of International Development, Stein Renate Hohai, who advocated for strengthening cooperation between Nigeria and Norway in key regions.
These include tax transparency goals, debt restructuring efforts, and climate finance partnerships.
Specifically, she explored opportunities for partnership under Norad’s “Energy for Development” platform, consistent with Nigeria’s goals on sustainable energy development and climate resilience.
“This conference highlights Nigeria’s commitment to harness international partnerships to promote economic growth, improve governance and achieve sustainable development,” the Ministry of Finance said.
