In routing the opposition under Holly Doyle in Newbury, the mission first brought a 33-1 shock to Dubai’s duty-free stock.
Archie Watson trained filly showed decent shape as a boy.
Nevertheless, she seemed to have a lot of things against things like boiling, gates of heaven and her favorite mountain winds.
Mountain Breeze tried to make it all before fading, but the other two fantastical runners didn’t show up at any stage.
The obligation first shifted to the conflict, and the reaction immediately responded when Doyle asked her, and while Sandals (14-1) chased, she eventually lost the second in her efforts.
Instead, it was a 40-1 chance at Haboo, but previously undefeated, it was a great career for Jack Chanon.
Watson said:
“The way she won probably surprised me, but the fact that she came and did something like that really wasn’t the case.
“She can definitely go a mile in Guinea. She’s not in English Guinea, but I think that’s where she runs. She was actually going to Guinea, Italy, but I don’t think it will happen now.
“I think after that performance, she’ll go to Newmarket.
“When I ran at Rockfell last year, she was still very raw. I don’t think the swell of the Raleigh Mile would bother her. She was running Goodwood as well and ran there, so I’m happy. Classic horses are what we all want.”
Doyle added:
“She probably wasn’t where she needed it last year, but she achieved more than she should have, so I hope it’s her year.”
Chanon said of Haboo:
“Two runs in all-weather are not real preparations for this type of race, but we saw her class and potential at the end.
“She goes straight to Guinea. She’s a high-class filly and I think she deserves her place there.”
Sandal No. 3 trainer Harry Eustace said, “I think we’re allowed to think about the Commonwealth Cup. I think her form is solid. It’s interesting enough and the few people who ran it, so we need to see how she trains.
“She gets the entry for it, and while that hard six of Ascott’s might be ideal, she’s a filly that could be so much fun.”
