Former MLB pitcher Octavio Dotel will be placed to rest on Thursday after his tragic death in the Dominican Republic on Tuesday.
The former World Series champion came from over 100 people who died when the roof collapsed at the Santo Domingo Nightclub concert… and his family said he would respect his memory throughout the week.
On Wednesday, Dotel’s loved ones said they would hold an event at the Funeral Home Dr before X-Estros Closer would receive Christian burial on Thursday.
“OD was one of the kind,” Octavio’s agent Dan Horwits said in a statement from TMZ Sports. “One of the real joys of being on and off the field. His energy, positivity and enthusiasm were contagious to everyone who had the joy of knowing him.”
Horwits continues, “It was an honor to represent OD. We will share our thoughts and prayers not only to all his family but to everyone affected by the tragedy.”
Dotel broke into the major leagues with the Mets in 1999, and eventually helped the St. Louis Cardinals win the Commissioner trophy in 2011. In total, he played for 13 MLB teams and recorded 109 saves with 3.78 ERA.
He was only 51 years old when he passed away.
