Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semi-final series between the Florida Panthers and the Toronto Maple Leafs ended with a dominant Panthers victory on Sunday night.

Panthers Center Brad Merchand had two assists and an empty net goal to round out the victory. According to ESPN research, Marchand was 5-0 with Toronto in Game 7, becoming the first player in NHL history to beat one franchise in a game that won at least five winners.
Florida confirmed Merchand’s big game with a troll aimed at Maple Leafs fan Justin Bieber who was present on Sunday. After the Leafs won Game 6 on Friday, Bieber captioned a photo of Toronto’s Orton Matthews on Instagram with the caption, “The Captain Completes Game 7.”
The Panthers replaced “My Captain” with the name of Merchand for his own post.
Florida will face a Carolina hurricane in a spot in the 2025 Stanley Cup final. Game 1 is scheduled for Tuesday.
