Your support will help us tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to big technology, the independence is on the ground when stories develop. Whether you’re researching the finances of Elon Musk’s Pro-Trump PAC, or producing the latest documentary, The Words, we shed light on American women fighting for reproductive rights, but we know how important it is to analyze facts from a message.
At such a crucial moment in American history, we need a reporter on the ground. Your donation allows us to send journalists to continue talking to both sides of the story.
Independents are trusted by Americans throughout the political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans from reports and analytics using paywalls. We believe that quality journalism should be available to everyone who is paid by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.

Two Delta line flights from Mexico heading for Boston on Thursday were forced to detour to Alabama.
The 1828 flight DL departed from Los Cabos International Airport at 5:17pm, and the flight DL 599 from Mexico City took off almost an hour later.
The two flights were scheduled to be suspended in Atlanta before proceeding to Boston. Delta hubs and headquarters. However, according to Boston 25, due to bad weather, they were forced to detour to Montgomery, Alabama due to bad weather.
Both flights landed at the Montgomery airport around 10:30pm local time, a Delta spokesperson told the network.
They came from international origin, so passengers were unable to leave the plane at the airport due to a lack of customs and border protection staff and were forced to sit in the tarmac for hours.
At about 5am, passengers were allowed to disembark in a group of 20 people, using only cookies and water after seven hours on the tarmac in Montgomery.
Passenger Lauren Forbes told Boston 25:
They waited another 8 hours before taking off for Atlanta.
Forbes and her boyfriend had to rebook the connecting flight to Boston themselves.
“Look at the bag under my eyes because it doesn’t sleep,” she said as she arrived at Logan Airport after a 25-hour journey. “I just want to sleep and go home to my dog. Then I’ll go to work in the morning.”
Forbes said Delta had already reached out to her about the refund, but she added:
Delta explained that plane doors remained open while passengers were waiting, and lightning in the area was forced to hold Montgomery’s flight longer than expected as flight crews were allowed to work.
“We sincerely apologize to our customers for this experience,” a Delta spokesperson said in a statement. “During the southeastern thunderstorms on Thursday night, it wasn’t enough in the way we aimed to serve and care for our customers. We reach out to each customer with a full refund on our booking.”
The airline confirmed that at 5:15am and 5:23am, some passengers were allowed to disembark and enter the airport, but had to stay in certain areas.
Alabama’s Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport was supposed to have had the right customer staffing, but it was not suitable as a diversion airport as it had experienced serious thunderstorms.
