New York Island coach Patrick Roy said forward Anthony Duclair is “full of gods” and that veterans aren’t meeting expectations after losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night.
Duclair played in 12 minutes and 15 seconds with the Islanders 4-1 defeat to Thunder at zero points and finished in Minus-1. He only had four shifts in the third term. It was the third straight game where Duclair played under 12:15. He averaged 15:03 on ice time this season with the islanders.
“He was full of gods. He was full of gods. He had a bad game. So I didn’t play him much. And he’s lucky to be in the lineup. Sorry if I lose it to him right now.
When asked what he was watching in Duclair’s game, the islander coach said it was “effort” for the veteran forward.

“He’s not skating, he’s not competing. He’s not moving his legs. He’s not meeting what we expect from him,” Roy said.
Duclair has skated to minus 15 with seven goals and four assists in 44 games against the islanders. The 29-year-old winger averages one point in the 60th minute. This will be a lower career for a 11-year veteran. Duclair signed a four-year, $14 million free agent contract with the islanders last summer and has a full non-trade clause until 2026.
New York has won the last six games and continues to stretch as they chase the final wildcard playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The islanders will even kick the Montreal Canadiens out five points to play in eight games.
