We believe it is important for readers to comment on a particular story as a benefit. At its best, our comments section will become a productive platform for readers to tackle journalism, provide thoughts on the reporting and issues, and drive conversations in a respectful, solution-based way. This is a form of open discourse that is useful to our community, civil servants, journalists and more.

We do not enable comments on all. Exceptions include most crime stories and reporting that involve personal tragedy and sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
