Viktor Hovland jumped at a shot of a halfway lead at the Valspar Championship on the PGA Tour. Shane Lowry and Xander Schauffele compete there.
Hovland has struggled with his swing over the past year, missing out on a cut in four of his final five world starts, but after a two-round 67 he found himself tied up for the weekend at the Innisbrook resort in Florida.
The former FedExcup Champion has moved five birdies to five under, mixing them with lonely bogies, and is linked to Byeong Hun An and Ryo Hisatnun.

“I still don’t know exactly where the ball starts and where everything starts,” Hofland said. “But if you’re hitting solid shots, it’s a good start, here and here, especially when the wind starts to blow. Even so, it doesn’t feel that great, but at least it’s an improvement.”
Bridgeman had a two-shot advantage until he missed a par 4-foot putt on the 18th, but Hisansen joined Hofland within one of his leads by birding three of the last five holes.

Laurie showed his dream in his second round with six birdies on the first eight holes. It started with the back nine on a cold morning.
“I played those nine holes perfectly, but I really didn’t miss a lot of the shots,” Laurie said. “Unfortunately, I wasn’t very good with the other nine.”

Schaufele extended his consecutive wins to 60, sitting fifth with Raleigh, Kevin Bello and Jeremy Paul, while England’s Harry Hall remains in the lead after 69 and 70 rounds.
The crowded leaderboard saw everyone who made the cut within the eight strokes of a halfway lead, former world No. 1 Adam Scott needs two birdies in his final three holes.
