Stephen Bunting was afraid to become the first player to finish the Premier League darts season with zero points before securing his first night victory in Berlin to win the season.
Winning for eight weeks, Bunting actually hit nine darters before defeating Nathan Aspinoll, Luke Humphreys and Gerwin Price, who ultimately broke his duck, the final leg-detector of the final.

“To be honest, after my first win, I was very relieved to get off zero points,” Bunting told Sky Sports. “I did a lot of work behind the scenes. I tried 110% every week.
Bunting takes out 107 to claim a nightly Premier League victory in Berlin as he didn’t record one win in the Premier League season
“This is a very special moment. In the Premier League, “Can we finish with zero points?”
“It feels very special to get off the mark tonight and win the night.”
Bunting’s five-point operation, courtesy of his Berlin victory, means that his slow run to the final at O2 in London on May 29th is not completely off the card.
“Don’t move ahead of you,” Bunting responded as he quized his playoff hopes.
“I think I played my best darts tonight when I felt relaxed and the league was gone.
“Obviously I could potentially make a top four, but I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself.”

Webster: Bunting feels million dollars
Sky Sports’ “Mark Webster” labeled Bunting as a “tall order” to take him to the playoffs later in the season, but was excited to see him take the mark at least.
“There’s still time left in the season, but he was very diplomatic with his answers about his playoff pursuit, but that’s a tough throw,” Webster said.
“He just has to keep building and score more points because there are big seasons up until now and there are a lot of Premier League darts.
“If he wins again next week, these things can continue, and Liverpool is round the corner, and I know how much that night means to him.
“It’s still a tall order for him and he’s realistic, but he plays well tonight and he’ll feel more relaxed in Manchester next week.”

Webster added:
“And then he feels $1 million to get points tonight, not just to win the night.”
