Liverpool won the Premier League title on April 27, beating Tottenham 5-1 at Anfield.
The top five teams are guaranteed to qualify for the League Phase of the Champions League. With Arsenal winning Real Madrid on April 8, England is one of two associations with the highest UEFA coefficient of 2024-25, usually in fourth place plus fifth.
It is also in the league phase, which is reserved for winners of the Champions League and Europa League this season, regardless of their league position.
The sixth place Premier League team will qualify for the Europa League phase along with the FA Cup winners. If the FA Cup winner is already qualified for the Champions League, that European Place will return to the league.
Newcastle United’s victory in the Carabao Cup final means that in the worst case they will be competing in the Conference League playoff round. However, if they qualify for Europe in a league position, that conference league spot will return to the league.
If Chelsea wins the Conference League but fails to reach the Champions League, they will compete in the league stage of the Europa League.
The lowest three teams will be relegated to the championship. Southampton became the earliest team to be demoted (from a game perspective) in Premier League history, losing 3-1 at Tottenham on April 6th. They joined Leicester City on April 20, followed by a 1-0 loss at Liverpool, then a 3-0 loss at Newcastle, before joining Ipswichtown on April 26.
