Several representatives of African countries met in Doha in Qatar, where they continued their discussions to bring a solution to the Eastern Congo crisis.
A statement issued by Qatar’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday, April 30th showed that the meeting was attended by representatives from the United States, France, Qatar, Dr. Congo and Rwanda.
This will take place between the Rwandan province’s Secretary, Dr. Congo and Qatar following the trilateral meeting held in Doha on March 18th.

“The debate focuses on efforts to address the situation in eastern Congo, ongoing dialogue between the Dr. Congo and the Alliance, with the March 23rd (AFC/M23) movement in the Congo and the humanitarian situation in eastern Congo continuing to demand urgent and coordinated responses.
Furthermore, the representatives noted that they welcomed the joint declaration between Dr. Congo and AFC/M23, promoted by Qatar on their commitment to a ceasefire, an urgent priority to promote humanitarian assistance.

Representatives agreed on the importance of the region’s future in order to dialogue with the root causes of the ongoing crisis and the challenges for sustainable peace. They also reaffirmed their joint position on the urgent need for the parties to the conflict to resolve this conflict without delay, taking into account the African Union and the United Nations-related resolutions.
They also welcomed the important advancements marked by the signing of the Declaration of Principles in Washington, DC on April 25th, and expressed their preparation to contribute to the ongoing efforts to promote mutual trust, sustainable ceasefires and peaceful resolutions against conflict, including the efforts of the EAC and SADC under the auspices of the African Union.
