Segway recalls roughly 220,000 scooters sold throughout the United States due to the fall risks that have caused user injuries from bruises to fractures to broken bones. The committee asserts that there is a possibility of serious injuries. Thursday’s recall notification points out that Segway has received 68 reports of failures in the folding mechanism. This is 20 injuries, including abrasions, bruises, lacerations and fractures. Consumers with these current scooters will be promptly halted and will be urged to contact Segway to request a free maintenance kit. This kit includes tools and step-by-step instructions for inspecting and adjusting the scooter’s locking mechanism as needed. “As time passes, the folding mechanism may require regular checks and tightening depending on the folding conditions.” “Returns and exchanges are not relevant.” According to the CPSC, the Segway scooters involved in the recall were manufactured in China and Malaysia and sold at retailers across the United States.
