Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury will join Wayne Rooney as two of England’s co-managers at Soccer Aid 2025.
Former England striker Rooney comes out of retirement to play in the annual charity match against World XI on Sunday, June 15th.
This year’s fundraiser for UNICEF will return to Old Trafford, home to former Rooney team Manchester United.
Last year’s match took place at Stamford Bridge in Chelsea, raising over £15 million for charity.
“The prospect of leading my England team to victory this June is satisfying me with just as exciting as a heavyweight fight,” Fury said.
“Everyone knows I’m a huge Manchester United fan, so having this year’s game in Old Trafford is even more special to me and I can manage one of my heroes, Wayne Rooney.”
Rooney, 39, managed at Soccer Aid in 2020 and played in the following year’s game.
He said: “I’m a big boxing fan, so it’s great to do it with Tyson Fury. We have this in common – we take it incredibly seriously.
“It’s great to have your old boots lace again.
Rooney will play alongside former teammates Gary Neville and Paul Shoals, while Joe Hart, Steph Horton and Toni Duggan will all make their soccer aid debuts.
Singer Louis Tomlinson will return with Sam Keck, Paddy McGuinness, Tom Grennan and Sir Mo Farrar.
Former Italian defender Leonardo Bonucci and Danish forward Nadianadim will make their football aid debut as part of World XI, with the rest of the teams being confirmed.
Since its first match in 2006, Soccer Aid has raised over £106 million for charity.
