Aboorey – A fierce battle erupted Wednesday morning in the village of Aboorey in the Hiran region between Somali forces and Al-Shabaab militants supported by local militias.
The conflict caused deaths and casualties on both sides.
The fight follows Al Shabaab’s acquisition of the region on Monday, before government forces enter the country on Tuesday.
The previous day’s battle was particularly deadly, killing Assad Osman, the US-trained special forces commander in the Garumdugu region.
For now, the situation in the region remains tense and unstable, with fighting continuing.
The ongoing violence in Aboorey reflects the growing unrest in the Hiran region as clashes between government forces and al-Shabaab militants have intensified, contributing to wider political and security instability across the country.
