Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned terrorist attacks in Mogadishu, the Somali capital, killing several military personnel and injuring dozens of people on Sunday.
In a statement, the UAE Foreign Ministry condemned “criminal conduct” and repeatedly made a firm rejection of all forms of violence aimed at destabilizing security and peace. The ministry also gave a palatable dol to the Somali government and the families of the victims.
Authorities confirmed multiple casualties in the attack at military bases as young recruits were waiting for registration.
The Al Shabaab group claims responsibility for the attack. The group has been attacking in Somalia since 2007 and has recently expanded its influence in the Central Region by fighting the Somali forces.
The bombing repeated similar attacks earlier this year. The group also claimed responsibility for the bombing at Damanyo camp in the Somali capital.
