MOGADISH – The US African Command (Africom) and Somali government forces have carried out a joint operation targeting ISIS militants in the Commiskaad Mountains in the Bali region of Pantoland, Somali, officials confirmed Wednesday.
The operation Tuesday, according to initial reports, led to the deaths of several ISIS fighter jets. Authorities say there were no private victims.
The airstrike focused on ISIS hideouts was part of a broader military effort supported by the Dalaush forces in the Pantlands. These forces have been running extensive campaigns against extremists in the Caalmiskaad Mountains in recent weeks.
The Somali government emphasizes its commitment to continue its operations aimed at dismantling both ISIS and Al-Shabaab, in collaboration with international allies such as Africom.
Based in parts of Somalia, these groups are responsible for many attacks, presenting important security challenges to the country.
The attack is part of a greater effort to counter the threat of Somali extremists, with both Isis and al-Shabaab remaining active and carrying out attacks on civilians and military targets.
The Somali government vowed to continue its fight against these groups.
