Finance Minister Enoch Godonwana is expected to give a speech on the 2025 budget in Parliament today.

The budget speech aims to balance fostering economic growth with providing support to society’s most vulnerable people, even with constrained resources.

Additionally, the Minister will present the budget bill and introduce the 2025 revenue bill.

“Minister Godonwana will also introduce the budget bill and table for the 2025 revenue bill, which the Congress will deal with next month. The Minister of Finance will present the allocation of financial resources to central government priorities outlined by President Cyril Ramaphosa in the National Speak.

“Godonwana outlines all the financial, economic and social commitments that the government prioritizes in planned spending. He will provide a detailed plan for expenditures for 2025, including a proposal to collect income to fund the government’s planned interventions and commitments,” the Congress said in a statement.

The speech was originally scheduled for February 19th, but it has been postponed to make the cabinet even more cautious about the best possible way to fund the budget.

In a weekly newsletter, President Ramaphosa acknowledged the concerns raised after the postponement.

“The last minute postponement was disappointing, creating concern and uncertainty among South Africans, investors and financial markets.

“Decisions on how public funds are spent will have an impact on all South Africa, so it is essential that concerns raised by various stakeholders within the budget are properly addressed for accountability, transparency and consensus building,” the president said.

The day after the minister gave his speech, the deputy director of the Treasury Department of Treasury Department of Treasury is expected to visit Athlone High School in Cape Town to hire learners in the 2025 National Budget.

“The purpose of this outreach program is to raise awareness and educate learners on national budget information, and to encourage overview and engagement of the budget process.

“Public participation in the budget process is essential to promote transparency and accountability in governance. Each February, the Minister of Finance represents the national budget and outlines budget allocations to national and state sectors.

“This initiative will promote inclusive development, promote trust in resource allocation, and enable wider members of society to access budget information by attracting the public, and by attracting the public in a statement,” the National Treasury Ministry said in a statement.
