Government to build six new academic hospitals

According to SABC News, Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi announced that six new academic hospitals will be constructed across the country to address ongoing challenges in the healthcare sector. Speaking about the bystanders at the G20 Health Event, he said the government will continue to provide essential medicines, including ARVs, to those in need, despite the withdrawal of US funds. He said there are currently 10 academic hospitals in the country, but three new facilities will replace long-standing temporary structures, while the other three will be completely new builds in areas where no such hospitals existed.

Sewage runoff has been criticized for worsening the sinkhole crisis in Kutson

The Khutsong community has sought legal representation to bring the government to court for the slow repair of the sinkhole in the area, EWN reports. Environmental activist Jeremiah Ramokgoated had planned to legally challenge the municipality after repeated requests for help were ignored. This followed the development of another sinkhole remaining in the Peace Section, which threatened to close the Kut Song West Clinic. In a letter to the Presidential Office, Ramokgoated denounced the maintenance and inadequate maintenance of sewage runoff for worsening the unstable dolomite terrain, demanding that the National Disaster Centre be treated by the National Disaster Centre. He said his lack of response to his letters made him suspect that the President’s office may have not given the letter to the President.

Wynberg Court shoots security tightly for suspected ringleader appearance

Security in the courtroom of Magistrate Winburg was strengthened as EWN reported that Shirene Matthews, a woman accused of organizing a fatal shooting inside the building, appeared at her first court. A long line formed outside the court before the proceedings began, requiring security guards to thoroughly search the public and delete all metal objects before entering. Matthews made a temporary appearance in a packed courtroom under heavy security. Police confirmed that another suspect had been arrested that day, and said four more people were expected to be arrested. Police Commissioner General Bongani Makashalala said the Crime Intelligence Email Force is conducting a threat assessment of the building.

The owner of the Limpopo shop was arrested for showing porn to children

Under the Sekhukune district of Limpopo, Nebo police have arrested a 24-year-old foreigner in connection with a sexual assault incident in the village of Fokorn, the IOL reports. Colonel Maresela Ledwaba said four boys, ages 9 to 13, would visit the suspect’s spaza store, attempted sexual assault and bought snacks when they served food. When the boys refused, the suspect showed them a porn video on their phone. One of the victims rushed into the house and warned his family of warnings. He reported the incident to the police. Officers quickly arrested the suspect at his shop and confiscated his phone as part of an investigation. The suspect faced accusations of sexual assault.
