President Cyril Ramaphosa on Wednesday will begin the second phase of Operation Vulindlela to unleash faster and more comprehensive economic growth.
In a statement Tuesday, the presidency said the release will take place in a union building in Pretoria.
“President Ramaphosa will lead the launch of Operation Valendrera Phase II, which is based on the foundation built in the first phase,” the presidency said.
Operation Vulindlela was established in October 2020 as a joint initiative between the presidency and the National Treasury Department to accelerate the implementation of structural reforms.
The first phase focused on reforms in five key areas that have a major impact on growth and work, including energy, logistics, communications, water and visa systems.
Thirty-five reform measures were prioritized in these five areas, government departments and agencies were responsible for implementation, and dedicated valindlela units in the presidency monitored and provided support for progress.
“The Vulindlela Operation aims to modernize and transform network industries such as electricity, water, transportation, and digital communications. These network industries are the foundation of economic growth and are essential to creating a globally competitive economy.
“In addition, visa reforms are prioritized to attract skills and promote tourism growth,” the president said.
