Stuart Pierce says he feels “absolutely amazing” after recovering from the fears in his mind while flying the plane.
The 62-year-old former England International and Nottingham Forest defender were traveling when he got sick on a flight from Las Vegas to the UK.
The flight was converted to St. John’s, Canada, where an emergency landing was made and Pierce was taken to hospital.
“I’m in a good shape and absolutely fantastic,” Pierce, who was released from the hospital on Sunday, told outside Turksport.
“I had heartache on the flight and the virgin crew was amazing, so they looked after me.
“My heart rate was racing. From the days I was being monitored on a plane, my resting heart rate was above 155 beats per minute.
“I just had to clear, restart, go through the process and there was a virus stuck in my mind.
“When I get home, I obviously do some medical checks and go see my GP, but now I feel it’s great.”
Pierce felt a heartache in his heart a few hours after his flight home after watching a Rugby League Super League match between the Wigan Warriors and the Warrington Wolves.
The air force monitored him, made contact with doctors on the ground, and decided to land the plane in Canada.
Three minutes later, when Nottingham Forest won Manchester City over the weekend, there was applause from supporters of both clubs.
Forest posted “Psycho” on X and referenced his nickname along with the heart of love.
Pierce added:
“Thank you for two messages and all the other messages that you sent out with support. It’s very humble.”
Pierce hopes to return to the UK soon, saying, “The insurance company is just trying to organize a flight right now.
“I was told to come with us because I need a medical chaperone, so they just sort it out.
