Earlier in Coleman’s tenure, Swansea coach Russell Martin set out for Southampton amid a legal dispute that was finally settled last year.
Meanwhile, Swansea appointed Paul Watson as a sports director – a role that lasted for just 16 months – Michael Duff arrived as head coach to be fired within six months.
They eventually replaced Duff with Luke Williams. Luke Williams kept the club in the championship and showed his promise for the season before the slump set out last month in early 2025.
Williams arrived from Williams’ former Club Notts County 24 hours before Watson’s much-anticipated alternative, Richard Montague, and began his job as Swansea football director.
Swansea has been criticised for his transfer work in every window during his Coleman days.
During Duff’s brief reign, Swansea recruited many players, including Christian Pedersen, Nathan Choe Ong, Mikola Kuhalevich and Jerry Yates.
Fans raised concerns again during the recent January window as Captain Matt Grimes was sold to Coventry City.
Only midfielder Louis O’Brien and centre-back Hanne Delcroix took part on loan, while international Mercer Weidel of the Swedish Under 21S was signed by Aab Aalborg before being relending to the Danish outfit.
Williams expressed concern a few weeks before his departure.
“I think the chairman was a bit shocked that things were prepared and not organized to the level he had hoped for,” Williams said in early February.
“We shouldn’t be a 48-hour panic station. We’re trying to get crazy what was prepared a few months ago.”
