The famous former international cricketer and television commentator suffered from attacks during a Dhaka Premier League match and was rushed to the hospital.
Former Bangladeshi’s 1-Day International (ODI) cricket captain Tamim Iqbal was taken to hospital after suffering a heart attack on the field during a domestic match.
Tamim, 36, led the Mohamedan Sports Club in a 50 Over Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match on Monday.
He took part in the toss, but later complained of chest pain. After his initial treatment in the field, he was taken to a nearby hospital.
“He suffered from a heart attack. All I know so far is that his heart is starting to function better,” Debashis Chowdhury, medical officer at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), told AFP News.
Team official Tariqul Islam told AFP that Tamim was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Savar, a suburb of Dhaka, urging people to pray for his quick recovery.
The BCB cancelled its scheduled board meeting the day after Tamim’s sudden illness, and several board members headed to the hospital to visit him.
Tamim represented Bangladesh in 391 matches between formats between 2007 and 2023.
He has over 15,000 international runs under his belt and is the only Bangladeshi batsman for centuries in all three international formats.
