Ambassador Stephen Mbundi, Secretary of East African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of East Africa, was engaged in discussions with Tanzania’s Somali ambassador Ilyas Ali Hassan regarding the bilateral relations between Tanzania and Somali.
The meeting was held on May 12, 2025 at the office of the provincial in Dar es Salaam. The main agenda focused on promoting the issuance of visas for Somali citizens and implementing the recent contract and the memorandum of understanding between the two countries (Mous).
Additionally, the ambassador has addressed the issue of arriving visas for Somali citizens, taking into account various eligibility criteria that are followed by regular passport holders. Ambassador Mbundi assured Ambassador Hassan that this issue is being addressed most seriously by the Tanzanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, particularly in light of the shared membership of the two countries of the East African community.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation across sectors such as investment, trade, tourism and knowledge exchange. These initiatives aim to improve the livelihoods of citizens of both countries and promote mutual prosperity.
