Dodoma – President Samia Sru Hassan will be awarding 79 recipients of the Samia Kalam Prize at the Gala, which will be held in Dodoma on April 29th this year.
The award is intended to recognize and motivate reporters who work in various sectors of development throughout the county.
These awards are organized in collaboration with the Tanzania Media Women’s Association (TAMWA) and the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA).
Presenting information about the competition, Tamwa director Dr. Rose Reuben said 79 winners from various regions across the country were selected and their work was approved by a panel of judges before being voted for the public.
Jan Kaaya, an engineer representing the TCRA’s executive director, added that these awards stem from training held last year (2024).
The awards are divided into three categories. The first category includes national special awards, including the best media outlets and the best journalists. The second category includes awards from media outlets, including television, radio and newspapers.
The third category consists of sector-specific awards for journalists specializing in sectoral development items such as health and water.
