Italian search team said the body of a British hiker who went missing from dolomite has been found.
Aziz Ziriat, 36, was found lying in a rocky gap on Saturday. His friend Sam Harris, 35, was about 400m (1,300 feet) below where he was previously discovered.
The pair, both from London, went missing during a hike in January.
Ziriat’s body was discovered in the Passo di conca area by a specialized search team that includes the dog unit Trentino Alpine and Speleological Rescue.
The spokesman said the rescuer “downped the wall below the base of the slope, where the dog finally signaled the missing man’s body in a rocky gap that was covered in snow.”
He said Ziliatt’s family was soon informed of the discovery.
Harris’ body was found on January 8th. My friend hadn’t seen or heard since January 1st and didn’t check in to get home on January 6th.
Their last known location was near a mountain hut called Casina Dosson, near the town of Thion di Trent, near the Riva del Garda on Lake Garda.
Palace for Life, the official charity of Crystal Palace FC, where Giliato worked as the head of community engagement, previously issued a statement that a colleague said was “deeply sad” with his loss.
Describing “the real passion to make a difference,” he said, “Aziz was not only a very influential influence on his role, but also a kind, caring and generous individual who brought positivity and warmth to everyone who worked for him.”
Ziriat’s college friend Joe Stone previously said the pair were “experienced hikers” who liked to leave the grid, but “alarm bells were raised” when they didn’t check in on their return flight.
