As a prelude to the 2025 Annual Meeting of the African Development Bank Group, Executive Director Vincent Nmechel will hold a press conference on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025 at 13:00 GMT. He will be joined by the Banking Group’s Chief Economist and Kevin Lama, vice-chairman of Economic Governance and Knowledge Management.
The event will be held in a hybrid format – both will be held directly and online at the bank headquarters in Abidjan.
The Banking Group will hold its 2025 annual meeting in Abidjan, Ivory Coast from May 26-30 under the theme of “Making the most of African capital and promoting development.” These conferences serve as the best events for banking groups and provide a platform to assess the progress of institutions to advance African development and improve the quality of life across the continent.
The highlight of this year’s meeting is the election of the new president of the Banking Group for a renewable five-year term of office. The current president, Dr. Akinwumi A. Adesina, concludes his second and final term.
More than 3,000 participants are expected to be present, including 81 member states of the bank, heads of financial and development institutions, private sector representatives, academics, civil society organizations, state chiefs from opinion leaders, finance ministers and central bank governors.
In addition to the statutory meeting of the Governor’s Committee, the 2025 annual meeting will feature a series of knowledge events hosted by banks and host countries.
The Banking Group consists of three entities from the African Development Bank. African Development Fund (ADF), Concession Funding Window. Nigerian Trust Fund.
This year’s event will record the 60th Annual General Meeting of the Governor’s Committee of the African Development Bank and the 51st Annual General Meeting of the ADF Governor’s Committee.
