It’s been more than a year since Vontae Davis’ shocking death…but time is not with the answer.
TMZ Sports obtained an autopsy report from Broward County Medical Examiner on Friday… After it was discovered that Davis had died on April 1, 2024 by his home gym assistant at Southwest Ranch, Florida. The cause of death is listed as “Undetermined”. The attitude of death is also a mystery to me.
“The overall situation, including inconsistency between the site and the results of the autopsy, makes the cause and method of this case best classified as undecided,” the inspector wrote in his 11-page report.
Toxicology reports revealed that Davis had drugs in his system at the time of his death… positive tests for methamphetamine, cannabinoids, and MDMA (commonly known as ecstasy).
The report states that Davis is a known illegal drug user, and also revealed that he was “surprised with drug equipment” in his room on the day of his death… which includes “clear capsules containing white and tan powder.”

The report also paints a picture of how the star defender was discovered… Davis says he is in the supine position on the gym floor where “an unknown dark substance on the sauna bench.”
Authorities also pointed out that Davis had a history of head trauma from his long football career.
Davis played cornerbacks for the Dolphins, Colts and Bills in 10 seasons in the NFL.
The two-time Pro Bowler recorded 22 intercepts, four forced fumbles, two sacks and one touchdown before retiring in 2018.
Vontae was only 35.
