The rare Hantavillos, which I’ve never heard of before killing Gene Hackman’s wife, has killed more people this time in California.
Three victims from the town of Mammoth Lake succumbed to the Hantavirus… which killed the actor’s wife, Betsy Arakawa.
The Monocounty Health and Human Services Public Health Division announced its third death by HPS in the town about 330 miles east of San Francisco this week.
Mono County Public Health Officer Dr. Tom Boo said Hantavillos has found the latest incident, including “tragic and surprising.”

As you know… Gene and Betsy were found dead in their home in New Mexico on February 26th. HPS is caused by the hantavirus.

Dr. Jeffrey Krausner, an infectious disease expert and professor at the USC Keck School of Medicine, told TMZ at the time… The hantavirus affects the body quickly, and symptoms can cause the chest to cool. Viruses are extremely rare.

Hantavilus spreads to humans from rat/mouse poop and urine. This usually shrinks when someone cleans the attic or basement, killing one in three people, Dr. Krausner tells us.

Betsy called the Medical Concierge Service on February 12th – officials concluded that she had passed away.
