The winner of the 250 million euro (£216 million) Euro Million Jackpot is planning to stay in Ireland but says he’s watching a holiday home under the sun.
Members of the family syndicate who chose to remain anonymous purchased victory tickets at Clifford Centra in the city of Cork, Republic of Ireland while they were running their errands.
The winners said that although they are regular lottery players, they had not bought tickets for the last two Euro Million draws.
Despite the unexpected storm, the family said they plan to stay on Earth.
“We plan to stay in Ireland and have promised that this victory will not change us,” the family said.
Another addition: “I still have my favorite ham and cheese sambo for lunch every day.”
“We absolutely go on family holidays, we love travel and there are so many amazing trips that we have always dreamed of achieving.
“We’re already looking at our holiday home somewhere under the sun.”
The family said they checked their tickets after watching the news and learned that Jackpot had won in Ireland.
The family said they “didn’t believe my eyes” after revealing that the message on the National Lottery app “has won a big one.”
“I went to bed and ran upstairs to my wife, who had just woken upstairs,” they added.
“We both checked the numbers multiple times on our website. We sat on the edge of our bed and said, “Oh, God” over and over again. I think I said it about 50 times.
“We were totally shocked and totally distrustful.”
Winning numbers were 13, 22, 23, 44, 49, Lucky Stars 3, and 5.
