Doge has made progress in implementing massive layoffs across the federal workforce, cutting contracts and reducing federal real estate footprint. Meanwhile, in recent weeks, the administration has ordered many migrants to be deported from the United States, cut funds for health programs and took steps to shut down federal agencies.
A group advocating civil rights, scientific advancements, LGBTQ+ rights and veterans has planned the event.
Investors were surprised at the impact of Trump’s tariff plans he called “liberation day,” and the demonstration will take place on Friday a day after the stock market was locked in blood and the stock market was shut down.

Trump’s tariffs: key points
Ruskin calls Trump the “economic dictator” after stock market Bloodbus
“Moral people don’t want a dictator who will crush an economy who knows the value of all prices and what value,” Ruskin said.
His comments come a day after Wall Street ended his historic bad week. On Friday it fell more than 2,000 points. Investors appeared scared of Trump’s sweeping tariff plans.
As business leaders know, Ruskin told the DC crowd: “There is no prosperity in a stupid trade war against the whole world. There is no prosperity in the collapse of the stock market and mass unemployment. The president, who has Mussolini’s politics and Herbert Hoover’s economics, has no future.”

Maryland Democrat Jamie Ruskin took the stage in Washington, D.C. on Saturday afternoon at a “Hands-Off” rally at the National Mall.
“Let the scientists do their job!” Ruskin cried out to the crowd. “The great thing about science is that it’s true whether the Secretary of Health and Human Services believes it… I’ll hand over the science!”
He said Americans have the right to protest, read the book they want and call the president “to be confused by crashing the economy and turn my 401K into 201K.”
As Ruskin said, the protesters lifted a variety of colorful signs.
“The hands of Greenland – it’s an independent country! Give us Canada – it’s an independent country! Give us Panama – it’s an independent country!” the lawmaker said before defending the state for DC.
Ruskin also mentioned the call for each ammo on judges by Trump and his allies, and many preliminary injunctions issued by federal judges across the country “contrary to this innocence,” he said.
“Take him back!” the demonstrator recited as he pivoted on a Maryland man who had been deported to an El Salvador prison. Judge; A federal judge on Friday ordered him to return to the United States this month.

Sir Kiel Starmer and Emmanuel Macron spoke on Saturday and agreed to keep all their options on the table when plotting Donald Trump’s universal tariff response.

The pair also said they were concerned about Trump’s collection, the global economic and security impact “particularly in Southeast Asia.”
Sir Kiel remains a hole in talking with world leaders this weekend, seeking to develop close ties with allies other than AUN as the trade war escalates.

500 law firms file lawsuits against punitive Trump orders
More than 500 law firms have signed a court summary denounced Donald Trump’s Perkins Koy and other companies’ targets, expressing warnings about the Republican president’s crackdown on legal profession.
The law firm signed a brief filed with Washington-based US District Judge Beryl Howell on Friday, risking the rage of Trump and his administration. Among the signed 504 were Arnold & Porter, Davis Wright Tremaine and Fenwick & West, but many of the largest companies did not participate.
“We haven’t made this step lighter, but our lasting commitment to maintaining the integrity of the American legal system is something we can only join together,” Brief said.
The filing was filed March 11 by Seattle-founded company Perkins Koy, and supported a lawsuit filed on March 11th to block Trump’s executive order issued against the company on its diversity policies and previous legal work for the campaign of Democrat Hillary Clinton, a 2016 presidential election opponent.
“In this case, the looming threat posed by the executive order in question, and other threats not lost to those who practice law in this country today: challenging (or ejecting) the challenging actions of the current administration now poses a catastrophic risk of retaliation,” says a “friend of the court.”
The White House defends Trump’s direction as a legitimate act of presidential forces.

British Jaguar Land Rover over Trump’s tariff plans
Auto Giant Jaguar Land Rover has announced it will suspend transportation from the UK to the US as it considers a way to navigate Trump’s 25% tariffs on foreign-made cars.
“As we work to address new terms of business with our business partners, we are taking several short-term measures, including a freight suspension in April, when we develop our medium- to long-term plans,” the company said in a statement to Reuters.
Trump’s taxes on imported cars came into effect the day after he called it “liberation date,” and the day after he announced the tariffs on the ship.
The automaker’s announcement comes days after Stellantis, the owner of Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge, said production would be suspended at two plants in Mexico and Canada due to a 25% tax.
The company also announced that it would temporarily fire 900 US employees as a result.

After years of calling them a terrible idea, Vance praised Trump’s tariff announcement from Rose Garden
But before he became a spokesman for the Trump Freedom Day tariffs, Vance was critical of the exact same policy, including rebuking Trump directly when he spoke about similar measures during the first period, according to an analysis by CNN’s Kfile.
The Trump administration’s main argument over tariffs was that they encouraged businesses to return manufacturing jobs to the US, Vance argues once rejected.
