Kampala, Uganda | Independence | Elias Luyimbazi Nalukola has been declared the winner of the Kawempe Division North Constituency election by the Uganda Election Commission, which was returned by the Uganda Election Commission, which has returned Henry Makabai.
National Unity Party’s Narkula has won 17,764 votes against nearest candidate Farida Nambi Kigongo, who won 8,593 votes in the enthusiastically contested seat in Kampala city. Narkula will replace Muhammad Shugilinya, who died at Rubaga Hospital on Thursday, January 9, 2025 after fighting a long illness.
Narukula immediately issued a statement. “For Ugandans seeking all the changes, ours is not a normal victory. It is a testament to the meaning of people’s power. Thank you for bravely confronting atrocities, acquiringtions, and so on.
“Kawempe North By-Election is bittersweet. This victory is a victory for the people of Uganda and Kawempe, despite being one of the most violent elections in our history.”
