GULU – Lieutenant General Kayan Jamhanga, commander of the Ugandan Republican Defence Force (UPDF), urged the military to support discipline and professionalism in preparing for deployment in South Sudan under the “Operation Mlinzi Wa Kimya”.
The development follows a demand from South Sudan President Salva Kir to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, and calls for urgent support to stabilize the country after an updated conflict erupts.
While leading the briefing and the conditioning and guidance under the command of General Brigg Anthony Lukwago Mboushi, Lieutenant General Mohanga reminded the military of their core mission: maintaining the peace and security of the country.
Lieutenant General Muhanga emphasized that their actions should reflect the values of the UPDF.
The military is expected to strengthen peacekeeping efforts and prevent further escalation of the country’s violence.
